Pressure Line
A pipe-routing puzzle played against a rising flow where every open arm floods. Levels are grown from seeded random spanning trees, so each one has a guaranteed route and a retry comes back identical.
01
The problem
Pipe puzzles usually let the flow pick one path through a junction, which makes junctions free. Generated levels also need a guaranteed solution, and a level that starts already solved or with a two-tile route is no puzzle at all.
02
How I approached it
The flow pours out of every opening at once, so a tee on your route only works when its third arm is capped by another pipe. Each level grows a random spanning tree with the growing-tree algorithm, biased from Prim-like toward DFS-like as levels climb so routes get longer and more winding. The tree path from pump to drain becomes the stored solution, the other tiles become rocks or decoy pieces, some route tiles are riveted in place, and the rest are scrambled until at least half are wrong. The board grows from 6x5 to 11x9 while the countdown and flow speed tighten.
03
The outcome
15 tests with no dependencies, including 560 generated levels each checked solvable by its stored route and none starting solved.
